February Favorites

So my favorites for the month of February are going to be a little different. I only had three things related to makeup, but I did have other random favorites that I just had to share. So without further adieu, my February favorites.
1. Youtube Vlogs
Okay, this one may sound kind of weird, but Youtube Vloggers are also one of my favorites for this month, as well as every other month. Vlogs are pretty much like TV shows to me.

My favorite vlogs to watch are Gabe and Babe TV, itsJudysLife and The Nive Nulls. It's guaranteed that if I'm having a bad day, I will be sure to smile by watching any of these vlog channels.

2. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
I used to wear this a lot in college as an inner corner highlight color, but I'm assuming once I found something new to use, I pushed it aside and forgot about it. I was propelled to use it again from watching an eye tutorial on Youtube and now I can't stop.

This month I was using a lot of pink eyeshadows inspired by Valentines Day and I would use this as a base to make the pinks stand out more. Normally when I would use pink shadows I could hardly ever see it, but my NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk makes a world of a difference.

 3. Small Plastic Storage Trays
My makeup storage has been in complete havoc for the past couple of years. I use a 10 drawer cart, but I had no rhyme or rhythm to the madness. I had drawers specified for different types of products, but once you pulled out a drawer there would be no organization or separation of the products in that specific drawer.

I couldn't take it any longer and I decided to see if my dollar store had plastic containers to control the mayhem. I should have done this way sooner, but I always assumed I wouldn't be able to find them there. Well, I was wrong. They were there and for a price I couldn't pass up.

My makeup storage isn't completely finished yet, but the trays I have bought makes looking for things a heck of a lot better.

4. Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream
I was alway terrified to try this product out because I had a feeling it would not mix well with my oily skin, but it literally has been a savior for me this winter. I don't know if I always get dry patches on my skin during this time of year, but I definitely noticed my skin getting dry around my forehead and cheeks.

I decided to use this as a night cream in my dry areas after I washed my face, and it gave me great results. No breakouts and it left my dry areas feeling soft like a baby's bottom the next morning!
Product is thick and very moisturizing. LOVE!
5. Breaking Bad
I didn't expect Breaking Bad to be in my favorites, but it sneaked its way in there. I am all about reality TV, but since January I've been on a kick with watching non-reality TV series. First it was Mad Men, then it was Orange is the New Black and now it's Breaking Bad.

Everyone and their momma loved Breaking Bad. I'm not going to lie, I watched the first couple of episodes and I wasn't a fan. I felt like I just couldn't get into it. It took me watching the entire first season to realize that I may actually like the show.

The more I watch it, the more and more I like it.  Breaking Bad is definitely growing on me with each episode.
Can I just say that I think Jesse Pinkman is hot? Because he is! haha :)

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette Haul

So this happened. I had absolutely no business buying another neutral palette, but I did. The rash decision to buy it happened the day after Valentines Day when one of my good friends from college came into town to visit family and I ended up scooping her up for lunch.

After lunch we decided to breeze into the mall. I wanted to check and see if my JCPenney magically had any Naked 3's in stock (which they didn't), and ended up eyeing the Too Faced Chocolate Bar. I stared at it for a few seconds, told myself I didn't need it and walked away.

The next day I kept thinking about the palette. I told myself if I went to the mall next week and they still had some in stock, it would be a sign and I could go ahead and purchase it with the Valentine's Day money my dad gave me and a gift card I still had from Christmas.

Needless to say, the palette was there waiting on me and I knew it was meant to be!
I'm a complete sucker for cute packaging and it's probably the reason why I wanted the palette so much.
What a perfect late Valentines gift to myself with the help of my Daddy. This is literally my kind of chocolate. Makeup and chocolate all wrapped up in one package. It's perfect.

I've only used this palette once, but I already feel like Too Faced has done it again with yet another amazing palette. I loved my A Few of my Favorite Things palette and now I know I'll be obsessed with this one.

Like I had mentioned earlier, I know I didn't need another neutral palette, but in my defense neutral colors are basically all I ever use. Occasionally, I break out some colored eyeshadow if I'm going out, but neutral colors are like my best friend.
The Chocolate Bar puts a little spin on the average neutral palette by adding pink, purple and burgundy shades so I do feel it's a little different. Maybe I'm just trying to justify the purchase. I don't know. I will say that I'm happy I have this palette in my collection now and I know it will be well loved. Plus, it smells like chocolate, so I can't complain.

Be on the lookout for eyeshadow looks using this little puppy.

What do you think of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette?

How I Store my Nail Polish

After having my nail polish rack for over a year, it is finally on the wall where it's supposed to be. When I was in college I bought it with every intention of having it put on the wall. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting against the wall since I had no tools, and I am far from the handy man.

My aunt came to visit about a week ago and she was tired of my room looking like I still was in high school, so she took it upon herself to take down my embarrassing high school memorabilia and hang up a few of my things I had from college, including my nail polish rack. Who knew it would be so easy?

I know this sounds crazy, but I feel so at ease having it up. It allows me to see everything I have and it allows my regular sized bottles to stand upright. I also love the fact that it doesn't take up room in a drawer and it serves as a wall decor piece. It makes me happy every time I walk into my room, since it's right by my door.
I organized it by brand, then by color.
Now for my mini polishes. I have accumulated a lot of these bad boys from gift sets. Originally, I tried storing them on my nail polish rack, but it got to the point where they all didn't fit on the rack. There was no way I was about to buy another rack to store my mini polishes, so I decided to improvise and use a candy dish that I was previously using to store cotton balls in my old apartment.
I love that the mini nail polishes look like colorful candy. My only cons about storing them this way is that I have to dump all the bottles out to see what I have and that the polishes aren't stored upright.

Seeing that I am a nail polish junkie, I don't know what I'll do when I outgrow my storage, but for now I'm content.

How do you ladies store your nail polish?

Fashion Wishlist

Happy Monday beauties! Today I wanted to share with you all some of the top things that are on my fashion wishlist.

February's Elsa Top
I think I love this one even more!
As a recent graduate, my wardrobe pretty much consists of running shorts and sorority t-shirts. Now that I am on the job hunt, my wardrobe has to change significantly.

This Elsa top from Lilly is the perfect splurge. It's a great top to pair with business pants and it's also gorgeous enough to rock on a date or a night out.

This was the Elsa of the Month on the Lilly Pulitzer website for January, so this print has changed this month, but as long as they keep coming out with must-have prints I will try my best to invest in one.

I believe a good crossbody bag should be a staple for any girl's wardrobe. Don't get me wrong, I love me some gigantic purses, but sometimes wearing a huge purse is completely unpractical.

Whenever I go out or just want to run a few errands, I can't lug around my Speedy. It just sounds like a recipe for disaster. You need something you can hang over your shoulder and know that it won't budge. A crossbody is lightweight, it carries all of your essentials and it keeps your hands free to dance and hold drinks! ;)

Although I do own two crossbody bags, they have both seen better days. My Betsyville bag has material falling off of it and my Forever 21 bag doesn't hold everything I need. On top of that, the chain on both purses dig into my shoulders. I know 400 dollars is a huge splurge for a small bag, but hey, a girl can dream!
Okay, I know we are still in winter and Texas these past few weeks have been unusually cold to the point of winter advisory warnings. This is not the time to be buying or wearing sandals, but when those spring and summer days do come, I feel like these are the perfect shoes.
The color is neutral so it practically goes with everything and I feel like it can dress up the most casual outfit. In all honesty, I'm not a big fan of open back sandals, but I feel like these shoes would make me change my ways.

I also never splurge on shoes, besides my Tory Burch Revas. I don't have many shoes, but the ones I do own, I've had for many years and you can see the wear and tear all over them.

My mom always complains I buy cheap shoes that are not comfortable and don't last, so I feel like a pair of Jack Rogers are a must. If they were good enough for Jackie Kennedy, they are certainly good enough for me.
I'm going to be perfectly honest with you. This Harlow necklace is NOT a necessity. I know there are so many affordable statement necklaces that I can find out there, especially on ShopLately, BUT this necklace is just pure gold!

I first fell in love with this necklace when I was interning in Austin with CHAOS COCKTAILS and one of the other girls I worked with was wearing this exact necklace. I couldn't help but droll over the veining in the stones. I knew then I had to have one of my own.
I don't know if I can justify spending nearly 200 dollars on a necklace, but I guess that's why it's on my wishlist!

What are some of the things on your fashion wishlist? I am dying to know!

Valentine's Day Inspired Oreo Truffles

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I wanted to share my go-to treats for any occasion, Oreo Truffles. I've made these for rush events and bake sales, and they were always a hit. These babies are pretty rich, so they are perfect for sharing. I've spiced this batch up by making some of the truffles pink and by adding some Valentine's Day themed sprinkles!

What you'll need:
1 (16 ounce) package OREO Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
1 (8 ounce) package PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
2 (8 ounce) packages of white chocolate chips, melted
1 bottle of red food coloring
How to make:
1. Finely Crush entire pack of Oreo cookies.
I use a blender to make crumbling a lot easier.

2. Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
Adding half the cream cheese with half the cookie crumbs helps make the mixing easier.
Yes, it looks kind of gross, BUT I promise they are so good!
3. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on waxed paper-covered rimmed baking sheet.
Improvised with a Ziploc instead of using wax paper.
4. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
5. Melt chocolate in a microwavable bowl on high for 2 minutes or until chocolate is completely melted, stirring every 30 seconds.
6.  Add however many drops of red food coloring until you're content with color.
7. Dip balls in melted chocolate. (I use a fork to roll each truffle in chocolate until it's completely coated. Once I'm done coating, I use the fork to help the excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.)

I decided to make a few with semi-sweet chocolate chips, as well.
8. Place coated truffles back on waxed paper-covered rimmed baking sheet.
9. Refrigerate until you're ready to dig in!

Bon Appetit!

A Single Girl's Babbling and Valentine's Day Eye Looks

Living at home has definitely been a challenge for me. It's extremely hard going from having your friends all in one city to having one or two where I live now. I was a social butterfly in college and now I feel like I'm sheltered. Sure, I can always go to Austin and see my close friends, but it would be nice having good friends here too.

I can be reserved at times, but recently I have been trying this new thing where I open up more and meet new people. I have been attempting to date, which I am beyond rusty at. Although I haven't been out in the dating world for very long, I have to admit its been nice having a whiskey sour and good conversation with someone on a Friday night.

Since I'm not seeing anyone exclusively, I don't have any plans for Valentine's Day. For a single girl with no plans, I know how this particular holiday can be hard.

If you are single, I'm not going to give you some pep talk about how you shouldn't be sad on Valentine's Day. I honestly have no room to give a pep talk. With a few of my friends recently getting engaged, I have to constantly remind myself that I am still young and this is my time to be selfish and care-free.

Sure, I'd love to be in the right relationship, but I'm attempting to look at things from a different perspective. Hopefully, my single life will be way shorter than my married life, so why not embrace my singleness now?

Regardless of having no plans, I don't see why I can't be a diva and have my makeup done to the nine on Friday. I know it may sound crazy to get all done up if I have no plans, but I'm a firm believer in when you look good, you feel good! I may have no place to go, but I can still be fabulous!

I've done two looks inspired by Valentine's Day. One is high-end and the other is drugstore because a girl has to have her options!

Whether you're happy in a relationship or a single girl like me, I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day! If you're spending it with your significant other, your girls, or alone, remember you can still be fabulous!

Live Life by a Quote?

A couple of weeks ago, I ran across a quote on Twitter and I immediately thought whoever came up with this quote is an absolute genius.

What's so great about it? Well, this is exactly how I want to live my life! Let me explain further if you're not quite sure why.

Jackie Kennedy was such a style icon of her time. Even now I aspire to have her classic style. From her oversized sunglasses to her Lilly Pulitzer dresses and Jack Rogers sandals, it's feminine yet classy. What girl wouldn't want to dress like that?
Audrey was known for her grace and poise. Her charity work and positive attitude are qualities anyone could look up to. To me, she is the epitome of a lady. She had such a sweet and giving soul and I'd like to think that I am living my life in the same way.

I know this post is about a completely different quote, but the "I Believe in Pink" quote is my all time favorite. Audrey is so spot on and it simply doesn't get any better than this.

If you know anything about me, you know I love me some Lilly Pulitzer. I wore Lilly dresses on graduation and I have a custom-made Lilly inspired cooler for pete's sake!
My beloved Lilly inspired cooler

To me, she took women's fashion by storm when she introduced her playful, bright colors and prints to the world. Now, I wouldn't wear a bold Lilly print while out shopping for groceries, but I love Lilly Pulitzer for that very reason. It's going to make a statement anywhere you go!

She's inspirational because she took a chance and did something different and unique. Life's all about taking chances, so why not jump first and look later sometimes? RIP to a fabulous lady who made this world a little brighter.
I believe in working hard and playing hard. Although I live back at home since graduating, I never forget to have fun. What can I say? I love having a good time!

Whenever I get the chance, I try to visit some of my college friends back in Austin. You would think that it may be a little awkward seeing friends that you haven't been around in a while, but whenever I see my close girlfriends, we simply pick up wherever we left off. It's like we never skipped a beat.

It's a sure thing that something big will happen when we get together and you never know what you're going to get with my group of friends when some adult beverages are involved. Every reunion we have goes down in the books because we're over the top, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

What is your favorite quote that you like to live by?
